Marathi film ‘Bittersweet’, helmed by actor-director and screenwriter Anant Narayan Mahadevan, has been nominated for the Jiseok Awards at the prestigious Busan International Film Festival. As the official selection under the category at the festival, the film will have its world premier in Busan.
Saguna, a sugarcane cutter, who is inducted into the fields and discovers the frightening practice of hysterectomy that is prevalent among the women cutters. Saguna attempts to be the voice of reason but she comes up against an environment ruled by the sugar barons, political forces, doctors and contractors.
