Chaitanya Tamhane’s Venice Film Fest award-winner The Disciple, on the struggles of a classical singer, and Emraan Hashmi-led Harami, an Indo-American production set in Mumbai, have been shortlisted.
The Ananth Mahadevan directorial, Bittersweet, has been selected for the Kolkata International Film festival (KIFF) scheduled to be held from November 5 to 12. The film has been included in the Indian Competition section at the festival.
After seven months of complete shutdown, theatres finally got a nod to reopen with 50% occupancy. Happy with the move, filmmaker-actor Ananth Mahadevan feels now is the time when small-budget yet high on content films can lead the movement.
